Preparing For Your Tan

Exfoliating is an important step in general skin care and an integral part of the preparation process.

How to Exfoliate

Tools: Black Magic Tan Xfoliating Gel & Mitt, long handled Loofah and pumice stone if required.

Step 1. Prior to your shower place apply Black Magic Exfoliating Gel directly onto dry skin. Starting at the feet massage into your skin in a circular motion. You will begin to see and feel the dead skin cells falling away. Don’t forget, hands, chest and face.

Step 2. Next, into the shower and thoroughly remove any traces of exfoliating gel and dead skin cells. Then using your exfoliating mitt work your way up the body in a circular motion to remove remaining dead skin cells, improve circulation and rejuvenate the skin. Use a body brush to exfoliate your back and other hard-to-reach places.

Step 3. Use a pumice stone on your feet to eliminate rough spots and calluses. If your feet are extremely rough, soak them in a basin of warm water mixed with a cup of milk for 30 minutes before getting into the shower.

Step 4. Rinse your body with lukewarm water. Pat skin dry.

Moisturising Your Skin

Leading up to the competition use a body moisturiser daily to protect your skin and remember to check your pH levels and work towards a reading of 5-6 for optimum results. The above procedures will have your skin looking its best on the day and provide optimum conditions for your tan.

Day Of Your Tan

Apply two even coats of Dance Off drying well in between coats. Each coat should be a beautiful mist on the skin.

Tan Lock

After your tan has been completed and is touch dry stand back and lightly spritz Black Magic Tan Lock and dry well. Tan Lock will lock in the colour, minimise or eradicate smudging that may occur overnight and repel moisture. Tan Lock also leaves a slight sheen on the body.

What to Wear

Once your tan is dry, choose to wear very loose, dark clothing, to avoid rubbing off of the tan during development time.

How Long to Leave Your Tan

Your tan is now left on for eight hours or you can sleep in it overnight.

During Your Tans Development Time

•    Avoid water, exercise and any tasks that may cause you to perspire. Also try to avoid exposing yourself to varying temperatures as this too will cause you to perspire particularly on very hot days.

•    If you need to wash your hands try to use a sanitising hand wash versus water.

Development Time Is Up/Next Day

Once your development time has expired rinse off the excess bronzer under a lukewarm shower for 30 seconds. Do not use soap or other cleansers on your skin. Pat dry.

You are now ready for your competition.
